Next door to Steve Alan is Miki Sharon, a salon founded in 1992 in Ashdod, Israel. It is run by brothers Miki and Sharon Slama with a collection of stylists from the United States, France and Spain. Adjacent to Miki Sharon is Addiction Nouvelle Lingerie, specializing in “transparent seductive” lingerie, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
And then there’s Duroque, which offers home furnishings and design services for homes, stores and yachts. WeHo’s canine-crazy population may find Duroque’s pet furniture interesting.
It’s available to anyone who can afford $1,400 for an “Antoinette coach” dog bed. Take Fido shopping from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Outside Duroque, turn again and look across the street, where you’ll see the flagship store of Anichini home furnishings, a textile company specializing in artisanal fabrics and home furnishings. Its owner and founder, Susan Dollenmaier, is based in bucolic Tunbridge, VT, aesthetically, socially and geographically distant from West Hollywood. Anichini welcomes retail customers and has a big following among designers such as Vicente Wolf. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Next to Anichini is Anawalt Lumber, a welcome interruption in the flow of beauty and glamour that reminds you that you’re in West Hollywood and not Beverly Hills. Anawalt, which opened in 1948 and is the city’s largest building supply store (and a vendor of plants), is one of Los Angeles County’s last family owned lumber companies. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
