Don’t worry folks. West Hollywood isn’t becoming Ferguson. That’s despite the tweets by MTV personality Chelsea Dudley (aka “Chanel West Coast“) that she was roughed up by Sheriff’s deputies during an altercation Tuesday night at the 1Oak club on Sunset.
Dudley, 26, who describes herself as a “white rapper,” is known for her appearances on “Fantasy Factory” and “Ridiculousness.” According to England’s Daily Mail she was partying friends at 1Oak, got into an altercation with another woman and security guards and was ejected. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the altercation and Dudley was booked at the West Hollywood station on a misdemeanor battery charge and released after making bail.
Since then Dudley has tweeted photos of her bruised arms claiming police brutality and likening her situation to controversial incidents such as that in Ferguson, Mo. “I was violently held by 2 huge cops last night for nothing and have bruises all over my arms,” she tweeted. Last night i witnessed police brutality first hand and I’m completely outraged. There are real criminals out there and I’m getting arrested?”
But the Daily Mail reports that video of the incident shows that Dudley was handcuffed by 1Oak security staff, not Sheriff’s deputies. One of the security guards, who Dudley had kicked, allegedly offered to remove the handcuffs but then she punched him.
Later on Twitter Dudley admitted to her 861,000 followers that she had gotten “buzzed” at 1Oak while partying with her friends. She said some other girls tried to “start problems,” which is when the altercation that got her ejected began.
1Oak, which is located at 9039 Sunset Blvd. at North Wetherly, also is where Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, was shot as many as six times in August 2014. 1Oak’s New York City club has been the site of numerous altercations that have put its liquor license at risk. According to the New York Post, former Knicks forward Chris Copeland was stabbed in the stomach outside the club earlier this year. In May 2013, a woman hit model Michael Dogonyaro in the face with a glass of champagne, leaving severe cuts.
