The City of West Hollywood commemorated Veterans Day today with a ceremony at the Sal Guarriello Memorial. Among the many speakers were Mayor Lindsey Horvath; U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA 28); Jonathan Castillo, director of veteran services at PATH, and Yevsey Epshteyn, who spoke on behalf of the Russian Veterans Association.
Veterans Day, which takes place each year on Nov. 11, honors those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The date commemorates the day in 1918 when an armistice was declared between the the Allied Nations and Germany on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of that year. It was seen at the time as “the end of “the war to end all wars.”
Photographer Jon Viscott captured the ceremony in the photos on the pages that follow.
Nice photos of the event. Thank you to all the veterans.
