WeHo Connects the Transit Dots with Metro Promo Video

The City of West Hollywood has produced and rolled-out a 60-second animated video, “Finish the Line!”, that maps out the benefits of a proposal to extend the Metro Crenshaw/LAX light-rail transit line to West Hollywood and connect to the Metro Red Line station in Hollywood.

The video, posted above, is released at an opportune time, given that funding for that and other Metro expansions will depend on whether voters support Measure M on the Nov. 8 ballot. The proposed Northern Extension would provide critical north-south connections and enhance the existing Metro regional rail network.

“Finish the Line!” use colorful maps, photographs and images that pop-up and connect the dots between regional destinations and landmarks. The video declares “there’s an easier way to get from there to here.” It provides a quick-moving illustrated roadmap for viewers to envision how a new rail line extension would shape the future and allow people to leave cars and traffic behind and travel around the region more effortlessly.

The West Hollywood City Council approved a plan in late 2015 to conduct outreach and build regional partnerships in support of the proposed Northern Extension of the Metro Crenshaw/LAX light-rail transit line.

During the past several months, the city’s Community Development Department has been working with West Hollywood Advocates for Metro Rail (WHAM) and the All on Board Coalition to build support for the Metro rail line extension to West Hollywood and beyond.

Well now is the time more than ever for our backhanded City Council to pull their strings to get this mass transit down the path we want. They can build a dozen Gehry buildings up and down the blvd if it means we get a subway.

Sounds promising, though I’ve been wondering if there is a LA City vs West Hollywood “thing” was the real cause of WeHo being ignored for fast transit plans.
