The officer, whose name has not been released, was riding a motorcycle when he was hit at about 5:10 p.m. The vehicle that hit him, which has been identified as a BMW, fled the scene.

The deputy suffered injuries that were not life-threatening but will require surgery on his foot, an officer at the scene said. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Authorities said they have identified the suspect, who was wanted on an arrest warrant. Police did not say what other crimes the man was suspected of.

In another incident early this morning, a deputy who works with the West Hollywood Station was hospitalized in stable condition after being injured in a hit-and-run accident while patrolling a portion of Universal City Walk in Universal City. Universal City is part of the territory that the WeHo station patrols.

The deputy was on a bike just after midnight when she was struck, according to Lt. Dan Nagelmann of the West Hollywood station.
