A man who has been identified as a West Hollywood resident pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he sexually assaulted his dog and posted obscene matter online.
Sexy Vegan — also known as Hansel DeBartolo III — is charged with one misdemeanor count each of sexual assault on an animal and posting obscene matter, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. If found guilty, he could face up to a year in county jail if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office
The 37-year-old man posted a video on a social media account on Sept. 5 that allegedly depicted inappropriate behavior with the pit bull, according to prosecutors. He still maintains an Instagram account @sexyvegan Another earlier Instagram account — @skinnywithabigbutt – is also live.
DeBartolo was arrested in Newhall on Thursday, where the Santa Clarita News says he maintains a home that detectives searched. Two dogs were removed from the home by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.
While DeBartolo has a home in Newhall, his IMDB profile says that he moved from a Chicago suburb to West Hollywood in 2016 and a City News Service story about his arrest identifies him as a WeHo resident. He legally changed his name to Sexy Vegan after moving to West Hollywood and had the name tattooed on his forehead and chest. On his IMDB profile, he claims that he is running as an independent candidate in the 2020 presidential election.
Sexy Vegan has built his social media following largely by promoting his buttocks. He has appeared on the Dr. Phil show, where he promoted himself as a friend of insects.

He’s not mentally well and I wish people would stop talking sh#t about him and others who have a medical issue just as real as diabetes or HIV. His father tried to help him by giving him an apartment here in WeHo but that clearly didn’t work. Now he’s in Santa Clarita where I suppose he can be less of a public spectacle and an inconvenience to society. The poor guy needs serious help and not from just Dr. Phil.
I do believe that he is also the individual who splashed purple acrylic paints all over the lower tier of the Beverly Hills Fountain at Doheny Dr. that resulted in a very necessary $1 million dollar renovation. You’ve gotta be a little crazy in the first place to even own a pit bull. I’m surprised we’re not reading about this guy being found in pieces with no apparent reason as to why the pit bull turned on its owner.
Pitbulls are no more crazy than any other dog, and like any other dog need a good owner. They’re high energy, not evil. Why so harsh on poor pittys? The digusting one is the vegan, not the dog.
Maybe you should leave “vegan” out of this? Even if it is in the headline. I’m not a vegan, but that has nothing to do with anything, just like him owning a pitbull has nothing to do with anything.

Scientifically speaking, small dogs like dachshunds are more aggressive than pit bulls. The pit bull breed gets a bad reputation due to dog fighting, and the behavior is entirely dictated by the person in control of the dog. We’ve gotten off topic with the defense of pit bulls but please indulge me in response. Do a search of the most dangerous dog breeds and you’ll find that pit bulls are, by far, the most dangerous. If you follow the news you will see quite frequently a story of a pit bull who has either killed or forever disfigured someone in an unprovoked attack. It is his base nature.
