“Never love anyone who treats you like you’re ordinary” – Oscar Wilde
We couldn’t agree more and Valentine’s Day is no ordinary affair here in WeHo. Whether you celebrate that with your love, or lovers (we don’t judge), your best friends or yourself, this week’s episode has got you covered from sweet treats to a romantic staycation – all found in our little “village” of West Hollywood.
Valentine’s Day conveniently falls within co-host Maxine’s birthday week, and it seems as if our own Vanity Girl Hollywood had a memorable COVID birthday celebration whilst in quarantine at home complete with all the things that make her smile including her favorite treat from the beyonds of the “east side” of WeHo. You can surely bet that Tracy is getting ready to scour WeHo’s Little Russia neighborhood along Santa Monica Blvd to pick up that jar of caviar for her February 14th plans!
Tracy and Maxine kick off the Valentine’s Day rundown with the most obvious of obvious gift for this Hallmark holiday for lovers – flowers. These two clearly know where to go for all budget ranges from Trader Joe’s, to the Farmer’s Market on Melrose Place, to the hidden Flower’s Wholesale shop located just east of Crescent Heights, to the exquisite arrangements at long-time West Hollywood florist – The Empty Vase. Insider tip: an arrangement from there is sure to win over any heart you are after!
The two have a LONG list of Sweets for your Sweetie with a focus on that triple berry cake that is the crowd favorite by far at Sweet Lady Jane who is offering a special triple berry cake, cookies and chocolate covered strawberries to complete your Valentine’s Day celebration. Tracy’s favorite WeHo adjacent Cake Monkey is also offering a variety of special treats including individual heart shaped chocolate raspberry cakes with a personalized Heartgram iced on top. For a little Italian slant to your sweet tooth, Maxine recommends a gelato cake from Gelato Festival on Melrose.
If you are looking for a heart-shaped pizza, newly opened La Morra Pizzeria at 8022 W. 3rd St. is your go-to spot! It appears that the adorable Parisian mother and son team from Salon de Thé on Sunset has expanded into a gourmet catering and events company. Tracy and Maxine have some amazing ideas on where to enjoy the gourmet boxes offered online filled with a selection of meat & cheese, pastries for a brunch poolside at The Edition, and a Parisian curated box with wine, bubbles, caviar and more that is ideal for a drive in-movie night down the street at the Andaz.
Valentine’s Day can look a lot of different ways, and WeHo offers it all from a cheeky package at Le Parc Suites Hotel, to the Pleasure Chest…with Maxine saying it best, “let’s just celebrate love y’all”.
This week features a montage of guests, two we have featured prior, that are the perfect fit for this thematic episode. Anthony Carro from Candle Delirium encourages folks to get out of the habit of giving flowers, and give candles! Rose is by far the go-to scent for this occasion and Anthony has a long list to choose from including his own Candle Delirium line offering signature scents of Rose Noir & Woods and Suede & Smoke with its surprising cult following. Candle Delirium is open on Sunday for your last minute day of purchases from noon until 6pm open at noon on Sunday with curbside pickup and delivery options available. Be sure to check out Anthony’s Valentine’s Day selections online.
Mikey Consbruck of V Wine Room celebrated their eight year business anniversary this week and has installed pop-up patio seating where you can enjoy a glass of your favorite with your sweetie. He recommends backwards pairing your wine with your food choice, but Mikey is definitely thinking pink for Valentine’s Day and has you covered for a “Rosé all day” day with a fun line-up of bottles and fun sparkling choices! V Wine Room has packaged their own house-made branded Grenache Rosé with a candle for $27. Tracy loves bubbles and there is much to choose from including three pink bubble options: a Champagne from France, a Cava from Spain with strawberry and cherry tasting notes, and Tracy’s favorite sparkling red – Lambrusco. Make a reservation on the back patio for Sunday starting from 2:30 – 10 p.m. and don’t forget the 20% off all bottles when in-store shopping. (Delivery also available through Postmates and other delivery providers.)
This guest panel rounds out with a local chocolatier , Annie Woo from Sweet Duet Chocolate ,who is a native Angelino whose chocolate covered fruits can be enjoyed with the perfect pairing at V Wine Room. Annie has a background in French chocolatiering, but turned vegan along the way and veganized her line of chocolate dipped dates, mangos, apricots and pineapples. The line is entirely vegan, organic, non-gmo, kosher, and gluten free. Order some for your sweetie online and use the code Weknowweho20 for 20% off online .
