First case of ‘flurona’ (flu + coronavirus) reported in L.A.

A local COVID-19 testing company announced Wednesday it had identified what it believes is the first local case of “flurona,” meaning a person who tested positive for both coronavirus and the flu.

According to 911 COVID Testing, the case was found at a testing site near the Getty Center in Brentwood. The patient was only described as a teenager. Officials with 911 COVID Testing said the teen was showing symptoms, but did not require hospitalization and went home with parents.

The teen and his family — a family of five — had just returned from a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, according to the testing company.

Company CEO Steve Farzam told reporters the teen’s mother tested positive for COVID, but not for the flu.

He said the testing site has seen some patients returning repeatedly because they were persistently sick, but kept testing negative for COVID. So the company began conducting COVID and flu tests simultaneously, since the illnesses can have very similar symptoms.

Health officials have long said that people could potentially be infected with both COVID and the flu, and they have urged residents to get vaccinated against both.

FFS — there is no such thing as “flour-ona”. It’s a marketing term made up to create more fear-mongering by the media. WeHoVille should knock it off with this crap

Go comment on a Florida news site. Your opinion means nothing here. But I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re still registered to vote in CA (fraudulently of course).

This is rational and good data, Cy. Thank you for the calm reminder.

“Likely prevented” is only propaganda from the left to have their sheep followers believe what they spout. Unless there is a deity proving this claim, it is just hyperbole since it is impossible to prove how one individually would react to this virus.

Again you keep saying it “propaganda from the left” when Donald Trump said basically the same thing in an interview in December 2021.

Is Donald Trump a leftist now?

Don’t have a debate with these people. They’re corrupt.

There is no debate to be had. The data backs up my argument.

Somewhere between man and deity we have science. The word “likely” can certainly sound speculative but data, epidemiology, virology and mathematical models give clear estimates of what would have happened with a great deal of accuracy. And these models are then calibrated even further as real time evidence (of which we have mountains) comes in. Prediction, backed by complex models, is a cornerstone to the scientific process.
