Give your two cents on the Beverly Triangle Plaza as city preps to re-design

Hello Neighbors,

At Monday’s West Hollywood City Council meeting, the Planning Department will ask the council to allow for a redesign of the “Beverly Triangle Plaza” (aka Beverly/Bonner Gathering Space) and to support associated community outreach efforts.

WEHO CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Monday, May 16, 2022
6PM
625 N. San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood

Beverly Blvd and Bonner Dr as it is today

The original design for the project was not supported by many residents and businesses. The Planning Department has taken that under consideration and will present a new concept to the community at a later date.

This request to redesign is expected to pass without discussion by the City Council. But residents can still make public commentsin person at Council Chambers, via email or telephone.

Follow the Weho City link below for instructions on how to comment and to see the entire Staff Report on Item 2Q:http://weho.granicus.com/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?event_id=ce598ce2-3959-4c22-b52a-ed63fe2dbeae

After many years in this town, I have always wondered why, in such a small city, we have so many named ‘districts?”, It seems overdone and pretentious and kind of self-important. Just my observation, but my real question is WHY?

Think of each as a Duchy with a Director or Duke sitting in City Hall. The directors were formerly known as the Counts of No Account.😂

An excellent location for a homeless encampment! Move the homeless located on the San Vicente center median across from Cedars-Sinai to this spot. Provide communal showers for them to bathe, Port-a-Pottys to…well, they won’t use ’em but hey!….a tree to hang their laundry on, and a rack to park their stolen grocery carts.

It’s a win-win!

Re-elect all WeHo City Council members! They’re doing such a great job.

He’s just being honest. Parks don’t work in LA. It’s a shame….but it’s true.

Opportunities like this continue to be hijacked with silly programs controlled by the Arts Director and Commission who operate with little knowledge and their own independent agendas. This more rightfully could be governed by the Planning Commission in a focused manner. Buildings and streets scapes/landscape should be part of overall continuity, guided by PC and the Urban Design/City Architect office. They could engage independent consultants on a project by project basis. More focus could also be beneficial if the overall perspective regarding aesthetics would be directed towards value of architectural design rather than “art appendages “ and billboards. Yes, lets remove that awful parking. There is waaaaay to much parking available in the neighborhood.

Plant a simple grove of trees to enhance breathability. No benches, no shards of demolished buildings, no crude concepts generated by the ill informed Arts Commission and it’s Director.

Keep the trend going City no doubt another hotel bigger than Edison with condos and short term rentals.
A indoor mall with lots of street frontage retail space looks like it’s already dug up for 10 level subterranean garage.
Don’t forget AMC Movie theatre and maybe a mini gas station too there isn’t one for miles.

Should be a little pocket park. Would be great to take as much street space as possible to narrow down the lanes.

No parks. Only attracts trouble. Why is the city involved with this space at all??????

West Hollywood is involved because it is in West Hollywood.
