DEAR WEHO: Is it even worth submitting Citizen Position Slips?

Hello, Ms. Yvonne Quarker, City Clerk —

I have reviewed the draft minutes of the June 27 City Council meeting and now wonder about the value of submitting Citizen Position Slips for the public record.

If I had been able to stay for this particular meeting, I would certainly have submitted Speaker Slips.  However, I do recall submitting to you 5 Citizen Position Slips, including 3 to indicate my support for Consent Items 2.Y. (Transportation Options), 2.H.H. (Renters’ Access to Housing Opportunities) and 2.I.I. (Travel Bans to Anti-Abortion States).

In addition, I submitted Citizen Position slips supporting the recommendations in both 3.F. (Nuisance Abatement at 1280 N. Sweetzer) and 4.E. (Historic Resources Survey of R1A and R1C Properties) which I now see was ultimately moved to become new Consent Item 2.LL. in the draft minutes.

Can my positions be reflected in the final minutes and exactly what is the current city process related to Citizen Position Slips?

Thank you for clarifying this important matter related to public

recordkeeping and public participation.

A Citizen Position Slip was submitted a few years ago by a NINE year old. It was most likely filled out by one of the fathers. Why is the CIty allowing this to happen? I think that submitting a positon slip should only be valid if done by those 18 years of age or older, NOT younger.

I too have put in citizen’s position slips in the past & have wondered if they are actually legitimate or are they lost in the stratosphere of bureaucracy? And another question is: Do they even give a crap what we think anymore on any position? I remember 20 years ago, the city valued our input, cared what we thought, and when people spoke up, it made a huge difference. Very smartly stated, and, unfortunately, so true. West Hollywood is being run into the ground and is barely recognizable today. Glad I got my kicks back when WeHo was a virtual Utopia.

Dear Mr. Omelczenco, Yvonne Quarker has not been the City Clerk for some time having been replaced by the very able Melissa Crowder.
