After being closed for two years due to the pandemic, Jewish Family Service LA programs and services are once again available in-person at the West Hollywood Comprehensive Service Center (WHCSC)

The WHCSC, located at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd., provides an array of social services and activities to adults aged 55 and over and younger adults with disabilities age 18 and over. JFSLA services help West Hollywood community members connect to social workers, socialize with peers, and enroll in community resources. The center also provides special services for survivors of the Holocaust.

“Reopening the center was an important step toward the return to normalcy,” said Marina Berkman, Program Director at the West Hollywood Comprehensive Service Center. “Even though we managed to assist the clients with various requests for assistance over telehealth during the pandemic, the in-person contact was what we all have been missing. Meeting with clients face to face is crucial in building a relationship with the social workers. It also makes our work more efficient and more personalized.”

JFSLA helps clients with case management, advocacy, benefit form completion, housing applications, form completion of grants, and referrals to community resources and governmental benefits. Social workers are also available to assist clients over the phone and online.

JFSLA also provides life-enriching activities through the Arts, Wellness, and Engagement Program (AWE). The AWE Program offers fitness classes, social engagement opportunities, educational talks, and health and wellness activities. Many classes are also offered online for those who wish to participate at home.
