Authorities have identified a woman who died in a fiery single-vehicle crash in the Hollywood area that left three other people injured, two critically.
The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 8200 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Monica Hyun Mi Suh, 31, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.
The vehicle — a Tesla X — apparently crashed in Hollywood and came to a fiery rest in West Hollywood, according to Lt. J. Aguirre of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood station.
A woman riding in the front passenger seat died at the scene, and two other women riding in the back seat were injured, according to the LAPD. Both injured women were taken to a hospital, one in stable condition and one in critical condition, the LAPD reported.
The male driver of the Tesla got out and was picked up and taken to a hospital by someone driving another vehicle, police said.
“Investigators found the driver at a local hospital,” the LAPD said. The man, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
The investigation was continuing.
Why don’t we all gripe at each other and emit platitudes about the ethics of this or the afterlife.
Definitely shouldn’t have fled the scene if that’s the case, but with these evs he may have not even caused the crash. They just recalled over 300k teslas for not being able to drive themselves …but I guess 2:30 am is a little late to be on the road and could explain why he fled
For the uninitiated this happens all the time with EVs. Burn to the ground.
Reality ✅ . As of the end of 2022 there were 1529.9 fires per 100k for gas vehicles and just 25.1 fires per 100k for Electric Vehicles (EVs). Numerous new studies consistently show EVs are FAR LESS likely to cause a vehicle fire than either gas-powered cars or hybrid vehicles.
What happened to the person that died .
As in buried or cremated??? Or where did their spirit/soul go?
Classy driver with classy friends. Extricate him and leave the girls to burn.
Don’t just throw the book at them, throw the whole library.
The driver was critically injured and taken to the hospital , not exactly the same as fleeing the scene.
Did you read the sentence? Referring to his friends “Extricate him and leave the girls to burn.”
Both LAT and KTLA wrote the driver fled the scene. I didn’t. Take it up with them.
So if it appears on TV or the internet you’re OK with echoing it even though “critically injured driver” + “driver fled the scene” lacks even basic common sense. Go watch Fox and learn some more “facts”!
every Friday and Saturday …..just after the bars close…..you can hear the screaming cars leaving the area.
where are the police? it’s so bloody obvious. I feel like the police now just lay low and just wait to be called.
And frequently on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, too. WeHo has become Southern California’s night-time playground and too many don’t know how to play nice in the sandbox. This sandbox is also our home 24/7/365.
Has become? Yeah if it were the 1960s when the hippies lined Sunset Blvd as their new home. It’s been some version of the same thing for decades.
Most news reports are saying the injured driver fled the scene, and then was later picked up and brought to the hospital, and is in critical condition but not dead.
LASD should have speed traps on sunset every night of the week. Too many people go on joyrides after a night out.
True, I’ve suggested it to Moulder who fluffed it off. From where I live one can hear the Indy 500 on Sunset, Fountain and Crescent Heights until 2:30 am. More interested in tourists than safety. I remarked wouldn’t the tourists appreciate being safe as well as the residents?
